Swansea Zine Fest 2018

I applied for a table at the Swansea Zine Fest 2018 immediately after hearing about it as I love zine making! I've made zines for collections of work in the past for university, and I also have experience running a zine workshop in an art college so I have a lot of love for them, they're fun and easy to make but are an effective way of conveying a lot of ideas that magazines perhaps wouldn't discuss as much such as feminism.

I'd love to have made my own zines to be selling and swapping but due to the timing of the Zine Fest (being the day after by Graduate Show!) I have decided to fill my table up with other fun things instead! I'll be selling hand dyed and screen printed tote bags and t-shirts, alongside individual screen prints and printed and laser cut wooden badges. I'll also have business cards at hand to advertise myself as a designer to anyone who may be attending. The tote bags and t-shirts are all original designs created for my exhibition "GIRLS" last November and feature feminism as a key theme, using pinks and purples as colour schemes. The individual prints and badges will be branching from my graduate show collection, with use of insects and plant imagery with pastel colours and a Scandinavian feel.

The Zine Fest will be taking place at Volcano Theatre, on the Swansea High Street, on Saturday the 19th of May. It will be a really great art based event, with a lot of like minded people talking about zines, art and everything in between!
